Authorities have charged a member of the Edgewood Athletic Boosters with embezzlement of the group’s funds. According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Patricia Bietenduvel, 52, was taken into custody after an investigation that was started because of worries expressed by other Booster members. She allegedly used the club’s credit cards to make a number of illegal purchases and kept getting cash back.

However, according to WCPO, sheriff’s authorities withheld the entire sum of money that Bietenduvel is accused of stealing. The Edgewood School District’s athletic activities are supported by the Edgewood Athletic Boosters.

Bietenduvel’s consequences may serve as a warning to others in authority not to succumb to the temptation to abuse resources intended for the good of the society. According to Local12, she was formally taken into custody on Wednesday and is scheduled to be arraigned the next day. Details about the purchases made with the pilfered money have not been made public by deputies.
