El Paso Police Command Center Reopens After False Alarm Over Suspicious Item

Following the discovery of a “suspicious item” in its parking lot, the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center of the El Paso Police Department, located at 10780 Pebble Hills in East El Paso, was placed on temporary closure Monday. According to KFOX-TV, the station that discovered the object close to Lee Trevino Drive was deemed safe after an examination revealed the device was not dangerous.

As the inquiry progressed, police actions were interrupted during the closure. According to information KVIA was able to collect, EPPD authorities verified that the station was off-limits to the public as technicians attempted to determine the nature of the suspicious object. Authorities did not provide information on the item’s characteristics, but they handled the matter as carefully as possible by closing the facility in accordance with routine safety procedures.

The command center resumed regular operations once the item in question was determined to be innocuous following a comprehensive assessment by the relevant authorities. As KTSM pointed out, “Police did not say what exactly the item turned out to be.” The police have not disclosed the details of the item’s qualities that caused the original worry.

An event that might have turned into a public safety issue was quickly resolved with the reopening of the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center. After being temporarily denied entrance to the institution, residents were once more granted access to its amenities. Even though this was a false alarm, the EPPD’s timely and calm response to ensure public safety in such situations is a testament to their dedication to the community.
