El Paso Sheriff’s Office Donates Over $6,000 to Cancer Support Program Through Pink Patch Project

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has once again generously donated to the Circle of Hope program in an effort to support those who are fighting cancer. Sheriff Joseph Roybal gave the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation a cheque for $6,440, which came from the sale of key chains and pink uniform patches to employees. This donation is the latest in a campaign that started in 2017 and has raised more than $45,400, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Every year, in collaboration with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9, the Pink Patch Project helps raise awareness and money for the fight against cancer. Despite the dedication demonstrated by the community, Sheriff Roybal stated, in accordance with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, “I am extremely proud of the generosity of our Office, year after year.” He thanked the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Fraternal Order of Police for their steadfast support of this vital cause.

In October, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office wears pink patches as a poignant reminder of the never-ending fight against cancer, which affects every aspect of life. The event provides much-needed financial support for prescription drugs, medical equipment, and transportation, among other expenditures, to individuals suffering from more than 30 different forms of cancer. The Sheriff’s Office has received support from the Fraternal Order of Police, Colorado Lodge #9, which will pay for the initial cost of the patches and keychains for 2024.

UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation Senior Development Officer Crista Muchmore commended the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing efforts. She expressed her gratitude by adding, “On behalf of the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation and Circle of Hope, I thank the El Paso County Sheriff s Office for their continued commitment to patients and families battling cancer.” The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office claims that the money helps patients focus on their recovery and family rather than financial constraints.
