An attack on an elderly couple in Hell’s Kitchen over the weekend has left the pair with serious injuries and the NYPD on the lookout for the shirtless perpetrator. The violence unfolded on West 44th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues on Saturday at approximately 10:35 p.m., where a 75-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were assaulted during an attempted robbery.

, the suspect made an attempt to snatch the woman’s purse before shoving her to the ground and then reaching to steal the man’s wallet. It was after this act of aggression that the suspect allegedly proceeded to punch the man repeatedly, causing severe damage to his eye, while the woman sustained a bloody nose and injuries to her elbow and neck.

Both victims required hospitalization and were taken to receive treatment for their injuries. The man’s eye injury was particularly serious, indicating the brutal nature of the assault. As reported by

The NYPD has since released surveillance footage of the attacker and is currently seeking the public’s help to identify him.
