A 74-year-old man was critically injured following a shooting in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood, occurring just before the hustle of the Monday morning rush. According toCBS News, the elderly man had been exiting his vehicle on the 2000 block of West Berteau Avenue when two individuals started shooting at him. Struck in the arm and suffering from a graze wound to his neck, the man was promptly transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

In response to the violent occurrence, a SWAT incident unfolded later the same day, resulting in an arrest connected to the morning’s assault. City Council member Matt Martin revealed on Facebook that the arrest took place around 1 p.m. in the 4100 block of North Lincoln Avenue, as reported by theChicago Sun-Times.
