Elderly Man Robbed at Gunpoint in His St. Louis Apartment Amidst Substance Use

A 74-year-old man was reportedly robbed last night in the Wells/Goodfellow neighborhood, which is known for its occasional violent and criminal outbursts. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, police from District 5 responded to the incident, which happened last evening at approximately 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Semple Ave.

Three known suspects allegedly confronted the victim, whose identity is withheld, while he and a buddy were consuming narcotics in his residence. The suspects allegedly hit the victim in the head, demanded money and property, displayed a handgun, and then took off with the man’s possessions.

Despite experiencing facial swelling following the attack, the man decided not to seek medical attention. The episode brings to light the vulnerability and substance usage of the elderly, a demographic that is frequently disregarded when talking about drug-related crimes.

As part of an ongoing investigation to catch the criminals, the St. Louis Police Department has not yet made any descriptions or any information about the suspects public. Officers in District 5 encourage anyone with knowledge to come forward as they are probably putting the pieces of the sad crime’s sequence together.
