Elderly Woman Rescued by Brave First Responders After SUV Plunges into Schuylkill River in Montgomery County

This morning, a serious event occurred in Montgomery County when a car crashed into the Schuylkill River, gravely injuring a 77-year-old woman. According to 6abc, the incident happened at approximately 9 a.m. next to AFC Fitness, located at 601 Righter’s Ferry Road in the Bala Cynwyd neighborhood of Lower Merion Township. The woman was quickly pulled from the water-soaked car by rescuers, who included a Union Fire Company firefighter and two Lower Merion police officers. After that, the elderly patient was taken to Lankenau Hospital, where she is presently receiving critical care.

When rescuers arrived, the silver SUV that had been submerged was mostly underwater. As advised by Fox29, the rescuers were transported to the hospital for assessment. The first responders, who are anticipated to be released today, jumped into the Schuylkill River without hesitation in order to save a life. The cause of the near-tragic incident is still being investigated.

AFC Fitness employee recounted a startling incident in which he saw a gym manager, saying, “He was soaking wet,” according to NBC10. He appeared to have just emerged from the river, and he was carrying a blanket or something similar over his shoulders. “It’s very, I don’t know, it’s a shock?” the onlooker continued. I’m not sure. It has the vibe of a film.

There are still little details about how the car got into the river. The condition of the woman who was rescued has not been updated.
