Everett Ignites Holiday Cheer with Wintertide Festivities and Downtown Tree Lighting Celebration

The yearly Wintertide celebration, which will take place at a number of local venues from mid-November until the end of December, ignites Everett’s Christmas spirit early this year. According to the City of Everett, the excitement will start next Friday when the city celebrates its free Wintertide Tree Lighting and Kickoff Celebration in downtown Everett. The event will light up the city center with hourly blizzards along Colby Avenue and Hewitt Avenue.

According to a press release from the City of Everett, that evening downtown Everett transforms into a center of holiday cheer, complete with Santa Claus leading the tree lighting, live performances for all ages, a chance to take pictures with Santa at the Historic Theatre, and a Wintertide Workshop craft tent that is sure to inspire creativity in both young and old. “The holidays can be an expensive time of year, so I’m proud we re able to offer such a fantastic variety of free holiday fun at our kickoff and tree lighting event thanks to grant funding,” said Cassie Franklin, mayor of Everett, who took pride in carrying on the city’s beloved holiday tradition and emphasized the value of accessibility during the holiday season. Franklin spoke to the city’s news outlet.

With more than 40 events planned after the kickoff event, Wintertide continues its holiday fun. These include the second annual Cookie Crawl on December 14 and the post-Thanksgiving Shop Small initiative, which encourages people to shop locally on Small Business next Saturday. With the Holiday Hooves: 12 Days of Reindeer event beginning next Saturday, the Port of Everett’s Holiday on the Bay, which takes place on December 7, combines the maritime with the festive.

Meanwhile, downtown’s Holiday Lights will showcase the holiday glow with elaborate tree decorations and 6-foot snowflakes along Colby Avenue. According to the City of Everett release, the Evergreen Arboretum adds to the joy of the season with the Wintertide Lights and organizes a Solstice Luminary Walk on December 21 as a luminescent invitation to winter, providing yet another family-friendly event to brighten the darker days typical of the season.

Everett prepares to become a hub of holiday custom and celebration with a season full of activities designed to make enduring memories. The city hopes to provide joy to all visitors and locals who traverse its blizzard-kissed streets.
