, emphasizing the gravity of the assault that invaded the sanctity of the family’s home. The investigation and subsequent trial, led by the DuPage County Children’s Center and local law enforcement, resulted in a conviction on several felony counts.

The case, which culminated in a jury trial resulting in Garcia-Lopez’s conviction on August 30, 2024 was extensive, with the prosecution team including Assistant State’s Attorneys Mike Fisher, Alexandria Levan, Cathy Nusgart, and Kathleen Rowe. They worked to ensure that justice was served. In response to the sentencing, Berlin paid homage to the young victim’s bravery and the diligence of those involved in prosecuting the case.
