Ex-Las Vegas Councilwoman Michele Fiore Appeals Conviction for Wire Fraud Related to Fallen Officers’ Memorial Fund

Former Las Vegas city councilwoman Michele Fiore has filed an appeal against her recent suspension from the position of Pahrump’s Justice of the Peace after she was handed a conviction for seven counts of federal wire fraud. According to a report byFOX5 Vegas, Fiore was found guilty in October for her role in orchestrating a fraudulent scheme that falsely promised to raise funds for a memorial dedicated to fallen officers in Las Vegas.

Fiore was suspended without pay after her conviction for misappropriating funds intended for local law enforcement. She had been suspended with pay following her indictment in July. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline voted unanimously to hold Fiore accountable for using the donations for personal expenses, including her daughter’s wedding and political fundraising, instead of their intended purpose, as reported byHoodline.

Each count of wire fraud could translate to as many as 20 years in prison for Fiore. The sentencing hearing for the former councilwoman is scheduled for January 6. Undaunted by the potential severity of her sentencing, Fiore has chosen to actively challenge the suspension, which has stripped her of any financial compensation associated with her judicial duties.

As Fiore’s legal case continues, attention is focused on her appeal and its potential impact on Nevada’s political and judicial systems.
