Fairfield Police Nab Suspected Tip Jar Thief Donning Santa Hat, Officers Replenish Stolen Funds in Show of Community Support

An armed robbery took place at a nearby restaurant in Fairfield on Monday. A local restaurant had its hard-earned tips stolen by a man brandishing a knife and threatening others, according to a social media post from the Fairfield Police Department. This alleged offender, who was later identified as Shamar Mackbee, intimidated staff members while wearing a Santa hat before taking the contents of the tip jar and leaving.

The next morning, Day Team 1 officers from the Fairfield Police returned to the scene in support and solidarity. Their purpose was to fill the jar again and conduct an investigation. Soon afterward, Mackbee was caught. The Fairfield Police Department stated, “The man was wearing a Santa hat at the time, but it’s likely he’s landed himself squarely on the jolly guy’s Naughty List.”

The suspect was quickly taken to the Solano County Jail by the Fairfield Police.
