Fall River Police investigating after student found with bullet, school placed under shelter in place

Fall River Police responded to a city school after a student was found with ammunition.

According to police, this morning, one unspent bullet was discovered in a student’s possession while they were entering Resiliency Preparatory Academy. The bag in which the item was found never got past the entry security checkpoint. The student involved is a17-year-old juvenile.

Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed under a “shelter in place” status during the search. This protocol limits entry and exit to the building but allows learning and regular activities to continue inside without interruption.

Additional School Resource Officers responded immediately, and with assistance from Detectives and K9 Caide, a thorough search of the student and the exterior of the school was conducted. No further items of concern were found.

RPA utilizes Evolv weapon detection screening devices at the school’s entry point. All students, staff, and their personal belongings pass through these devices at a designated security checkpoint before gaining access to the building.

The incident remains under investigation.
