Family of man fatally shot in Redford Township looking for answers

(CBS DETROIT) The relatives of a Redford Township man who was shot and murdered are speaking out.

Police are classifying the gunshot, which occurred almost a month ago, as domestic-related.

Ernest Council Sr. proudly displays a photograph that his children gave him as a Father’s Day present this Sunday. His sole son is in the center of the picture.

“You know, I always give my kids a hug and tell them how much I love them whenever I see them. Council Sr. remarked, “I can no longer embrace my son.”

On November 4, Ernest Council Jr. was shot and killed.

Redford Township Police say it took place at his house close to Delaware and Midland Avenues.

“I believed I was having a dream. I don’t want anyone to experience that emotion. It’s awful to hear that your only kid was shot and killed,” Council Sr. remarked.

Less than twenty-four hours after being apprehended that evening, a suspect was freed.

The primary detective in this case stated that there was insufficient evidence to convict the alleged gunman.

“In order to conclude this chapter and determine how our lives will unfold, we all need to be aware of what is happening. because we have all been impacted by him. According to the victim’s stepmother, Connie Council, “this [has] ripped up all of our lives, forever.” “We need to know what’s happening because we’re in pain and confused. We also miss him. Ernest’s parents will recall him as a kind man who enjoyed making people laugh and had a big smile.

“I will always remember him. “He will always hold a special place in my heart,” Council Sr. remarked.

In this situation, no charges have yet been brought.
