According to the SBSD Victorville Police Department, a male driver was killed on the afternoon of November 23 after a terrible sequence of events occurred on the Interstate 15 freeway close to Mariposa Road and Cottonwood Avenue in Victorville. After a collision between a blue Audi GTRS and a gray Nissan Pathfinder, the Victorville Police were called to the scene along with California Highway Patrol police and local emergency workers.
The Victorville Police Department released a statement stating that the Audi was heading south on Mariposa Road when it collided with the curb and flew onto the freeway, straight into the Nissan’s path. The Audi’s driver suffered severe injuries and was declared deceased at the scene of the devastating collision. The driver and a passenger in the Nissan were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries.
Leading this inquiry is the Victorville Police Station’s Major catastrophe inquiry Team, which is attempting to piece together the series of events that resulted in this deadly catastrophe. To preserve the integrity of the scene, northbound lanes of Interstate 15 and portions of Mariposa Road were blocked off as the team carefully examined the evidence and urged witnesses to come forward.
Now, authorities are requesting help from the public, urging anybody who saw the incident or knows pertinent details to get in touch with Detective S. Lenihan or Deputy J. Tomasello at the Victorville Station. “Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact,” officials said in their statement.
