Fatal Crash in Rural Chillicothe Leaves One Teen Dead and Five Others Injured, Police Investigating

MARSHALL COUNTY (DDN) – A Jeep carrying a group of teenagers drove into a bunch of trees in rural Chillicothe at the Marshall-Peoria County boundary on Friday, killing one of them.

According to Marshall County Sheriff Wayne Strawn, deputies were dispatched soon after 5 p.m. Friday to the 600 block of County Road 450 North. According to the sheriff, the Jeep driver lost control, fled the road, and smashed into a bunch of trees.

According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, 14-year-old Kayleigh Dalrymple of Chillicothe died at OSF St. Francis Medical Center around 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

The sheriff reported that five other teenagers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Peoria County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the crash.
