CANNON CITY TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A tragic collision between a vehicle and a tractor claimed the life of one woman and left another injured Sunday afternoon in Cannon City Township, southern Minnesota.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on Highway 3, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Laura Jean Daily, 58, of Faribault, was driving north when the crash took place. The driver of the tractor, a 64-year-old man also from Faribault, was heading in the opposite direction when he attempted to turn left. Daily’s vehicle struck the tractor as it made the turn.
Daily was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, she was pronounced dead. Her passenger, a 30-year-old woman from Faribault, was also transported to the hospital. Authorities say the passenger is expected to survive, though her injuries have not been disclosed.
The driver of the tractor, who has not been identified, was unharmed in the crash. The incident is still under investigation, with the Minnesota State Patrol working to determine the cause of the crash and whether any factors, such as road conditions or driver error, played a role.
