Fatal Scooter Collision with Metro Bus in Washington D.C. Leads to Local Man’s Death

A tragic incident in the nation’s capital has concluded with a fatality, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department. On November 7, 2024, a collision took place involving a Metro bus and a scooter, resulting in critical injuries for the scooter rider, who was later pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that the accident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on the 300 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast, when the victim, on his scooter, encountered the bus. According to thereport by the MPD, the scooter rider was facing eastbound and stopped at the 300 block of N Street, Northeast, when he accelerated and failed to halt at the stop sign, ramming into the side of the Metro bus.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and the injured man was quickly taken to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his injuries proved insurmountable. The man succumbed to his injuries a week later, last Thursday. He has been identified as 60-year-old Keith North of Northeast D.C.
