Florida Driver Faces Charges After Causing $250,000 in Damage and Hospitalizing Woman in Head-on Crash

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla (DDN) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver who drove north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 caused more than $250,000 worth of damage and sent one woman to the hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.

The information that we have is that the driver of the Tesla SUV that was involved in the accident, Rontonio Scott, 49, was seen driving head-on into traffic in St. Petersburg, according to dashcam footage.

When the state troopers arrived at the scene, they reported that the suspect had some indicators of impairment, such as slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

For the sake of the investigation, Scott stated that he had just left a bar where he claimed to have consumed two shots of tequila.

One of the people who was inside the Tesla SUV sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his pelvis, femur, and ankle, in addition to considerable damage to his liver.

Moreover, he was required to have surgery to have his spleen removed, and the medical professionals warned that the accident could have long-term effects on his capacity to walk.

Minor injuries were sustained by a second individual who was inside the Tesla.
