Florida Man Crashes Into Gas Meter After Sideswiping Car at Main and Broad in Lansdale, Prompting Evacuations

DDN – Lansdale Police said a 30-year-old man from Florida was driving a Kia Optima when he sideswiped a Honda Fit at the Main and Broad Streets junction Monday night.

VMSC Emergency Medical Services sent him to Grand View Hospital for suspected mild injuries.

The car stopped on the sidewalk in front of 7 W. Main St., police said.

The motorist struck a gas meter in front of the shop, prompting the evacuation of surrounding households Monday night while PECO monitored the air for gas leaks caused by the meter’s damage, according to police.

The situation was cleared by 8:33 p.m.

The incident is still under investigation.
