Florida Man Taken Down by K9 after Wild Chase Ended in Fiery Crash in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Flo. (DDN) – A man from Florida known for evading law enforcement was apprehended following a chaotic car chase that covered multiple miles, culminating in a crash with vehicles halted at a traffic signal, where a K9 ultimately subdued him, according to officials in Volusia County.

A video compilation showcasing footage from body cameras and police helicopters was shared by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, highlighting the intense situation.

On Friday afternoon, law enforcement stopped 39-year-old Randolph Brown in DeLeon Springs. Authorities report that Brown is sought in Lake County for charges related to aggravated battery involving a deadly weapon.

Footage from body cameras reveals that a minimum of two police vehicles surrounded Brown’s car during the traffic stop. Officers had their weapons ready and commanded Brown to exit his vehicle.

“Keep your hands up or you will get shot,” one deputy shouts.

Initially, Brown follows the instructions and extends his hands out of the window.

“Sir, what did I do?,” he yells.

“You’re under arrest. Now get out of the car,” another deputy commands.

At this juncture, Brown reportedly chooses to stop adhering.

He reportedly raises his window, reverses, colliding with one of the deputy vehicles, maneuvers around the police car ahead, and then speeds away. A police helicopter captures the moment as Brown reportedly flees the scene at high speed. The scene shifts to an officer deploying stop-sticks. Brown reportedly struck them and then turned around. He took back control and kept evading the deputies, as reported by law enforcement.

Following that, he reportedly raced through a stop light, just missing vehicles that were crossing the intersection.

Once more, deputies deployed stop sticks, yet this time Brown reportedly evaded them by veering into the path of oncoming vehicles. Brown drives the wrong way before correcting course, according to police reports. He maneuvered through halted vehicles and once more traveled in the opposite direction, according to the footage. He reportedly sped through a roundabout.

At last, Brown allegedly nears a construction area where vehicles are halted at a red signal. He reportedly attempts to steer clear of the cars, but ultimately collides with a vehicle that then crashes into an SUV, as shown in the footage. Authorities report that the dog was observed pursuing Brown and bringing him to the ground. Volusia County authorities subsequently apprehend him.

The individual faces serious allegations, including aggravated fleeing, battery against law enforcement officers, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon directed at law enforcement officers, along with additional charges.

He is currently held at the Volusia County Jail with no option for bond. Authorities report that he has previously evaded Volusia deputies. Two drivers involved in the incident with Brown reported experiencing neck pain.
