Former Oklahoma County Detention Center detention officer Casey Slone was taken into custody on suspicion of bringing illegal goods into the facility. OKC FOX reports that she also used a contraband smartphone to converse illegally with a prisoner.
Slone is suspected of trying to sneak contraband into a Pittsburg County state jail. Slone started working at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on August 21, 2023, and was fired on July 30. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections found this after she was arrested. According to a post from Free Press OKC, there is evidence that she was involved in a contraband drop on May 14 that she allegedly planned over her lunch break.
Brandi Garner, CEO of the Oklahoma County correctional Center, stated, “This former detention officer’s actions are an outright betrayal of the trust placed in them by the public and their colleagues.” Among other prohibited materials, K2-laced papers were allegedly found in the contraband. Information from the Department of Corrections prompted a thorough investigation into Slone’s activities, which led to the discovery of surveillance footage and phone conversations that indicate the smuggling of these illegal materials into the Oklahoma County Detention Center and their delivery to a jail inmate, according to a statement obtained by Free Press OKCandKFOR.
