Former Target employee wears old uniform to rob Michigan store, crashes after fleeing

(CBS DETROIT)According to authorities, a former Target employee who was posing as a seasonal employee who had been rehired stole a Target in the Detroit region and crashed his vehicle on the way out.

The event took place inside the Target store located at 14099 Pardee Road in Taylor at approximately six in the morning on Tuesday.

The man pretended to be a seasonal employee beginning his first day of work on Tuesday in order to enter Target through the employee entrance of the building. Police claim that the man was able to persuade a worker to open the door for him since he had previously been employed.

According to the police, the individual approached the customer service area by applying his expertise as a store employee. The man apparently discovered that a register was empty when he initially checked it. He then allegedly discovered Apple AirPods and a PlayStation system waiting for a customer to pick them up, took the devices, and ran out of the store.

Employees at the store did not know he was not an employee when they phoned the police.

When the police came, the man fled the scene and drove quickly north on Pardee. Police followed the car for a short time before stopping at a supervisor’s request. At the intersection of Pardee and Goddard, the suspect ultimately collided with two cars.

The stolen goods were found by the police, and the man was arrested.

There were no reported significant injuries.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is receiving a warrant request for charges from detectives.
