Fort Worth Enhances Downtown Connectivity with Completed Lancaster T&P Passage Project

Folks headed to downtown Fort Worth have a new reason to appreciate the journey. The city has wrapped up construction on the Lancaster T&P Passage Project, a $1.75 million investment funded by the City of Fort Worth’s Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone District 8 (TIF 8). As reported by the City of Fort Worth, the passage is not only an improvement in accessibility but also a nod to Fort Worth’s rich history.

For those touching down at DFW International and taking TEXRail to the city, T&P Station is often their first impression of Fort Worth. The project’s completion is timely, coinciding with over a billion dollars worth of development transforming the area. Besides the functional upgrades including better lighting and signage for navigation, the station now boasts a public art exhibit. It showcases historic photos ranging from inaugural train workers in 1931 to visits by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and even spotlights the station’s role in WWII as a haven for Jewish refugees.

The city has emphasized respecting the legacy of the T&P Terminal Building. The walkway not only serves a practical purpose but also celebrates figures instrumental to Fort Worth’s growth, such as Will Rogers and Amon Carter. The project, managed by Downtown Fort Worth Inc., with landscape and construction by The Fain Group and Kimley-Horn, connects the T&P terminal platform to downtown with elegance, reflecting the structure’s historic significance.
