The Frisco Police Department took 22-year-old Jerry Johnson into custody last Thursday on suspicion of murder, following a shooting the previous night that left another 22-year-old, Ja’Karrion Craig, dead in a Walmart parking lot, according to a press release from theCity of Frisco.
Authorities arrived at the scene last Wednesday around 8:23 p.m. after reports of gunfire at the northeast corner of Eldorado Parkway and FM 423, where they found Craig with chest and foot wounds. Despite life-saving attempts by officers and fire personnel, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Officers conducted interviews and reviewed security footage, which led to Johnson’s identification and subsequent apprehension by Frisco SWAT at his Denton residence, 1300 Dallas Drive, Thursday morning at approximately 7 a.m. without incident, Frisco Police Chief David Shilson recognized the coordinated effort between the departments and local units in the investigation in a statement obtained by the city’s communications division.
While the Frisco Police Department calls this a singular event with no ongoing threat to the public, they continue to urge anyone with information about this crime to come forward. Johnson has since been booked into the Denton County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
