From Hospitality to Holiness: Monroeville’s Former DoubleTree Hotel Transformed into Grace Life Church Venue

In a significant change for a business that was formerly in the hotel industry, the DoubleTree Hotel in Monroeville will now host religious events.According to WPXI, Grace Life Church completed the purchase agreement with Two Trees Global LLC, a real estate firm. In an Instagram post, the church’s pastors, Buck and Amy Schafer, informed their followers that they are in possession of the keys to what they have nicknamed the “latter house project.” The church’s decision to provide spiritual services at a place that was formerly used for travel is expected to “elevate the kingdom.”

Grace Life Church has raised $820,000 for the project thus far, and is hoping to raise $1.4 million while Two Trees Global manages the property ownership. More funding sources are in the works, with the church collaborating with a business to run the majority of the hotel’s upper floors and keep it open as a place to stay. According to WPXI, this dual-purpose strategy seeks to reduce the financial load by permitting the space to be used as a hotel going forward.

Turning to the real estate side of things, the sale was completed last Friday, but the asking price for the property, which was formerly owned by 101 Mall Boulevard Owner LLC, has not been revealed. TribLIVE claims that the new ownership information is not reflected in the most recent update to Allegheny County property records online.

Beyond its Monroeville location, the Grace Life Church intends to relocate its offices to the second floor and convert the hotel ballroom into its main place of worship. After serving as the congregation’s leader for almost thirty years, Pastor Butch Schafer expressed the need for additional space because of the growing membership, which currently stands at about 3,500. According to TribLIVE, the facility, which is well situated in front of Monroeville Mall, has enough parking to handle the increase. In the meantime, Two Trees Global’s principal, who is solely known as a churchgoer, keeps a low profile, and the Pennsylvania Department of State provides few information about the LLC’s officers.
