MACON, Ga. — A deadly shooting in Macon early Friday morning has left one man dead and six others injured, including an 18-year-old in critical condition.
The incident occurred at a residence on Triple Hill Drive, off Houston Avenue, where people had gathered to drink, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BSO).
Argument Leads to Gunfire
Sheriff David Davis revealed during a press conference that an argument at the gathering escalated, resulting in one person opening fire and injuring seven people. The emergency call was placed to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 1:12 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found three victims at the scene who were rushed to the hospital by paramedics. Authorities later learned that four additional victims had been taken to the hospital in personal vehicles.
Among the victims, Jawasiki Deuventa Guyton, 34, died at the hospital. An 18-year-old remains in critical condition, while the other five individuals are expected to recover.
History of Trouble at the Location
Sheriff Davis noted that the residence where the shooting took place has been a recurring problem for law enforcement. Multiple 911 calls have been made to the address this year, placing it firmly on the sheriff’s office radar.
Ongoing Investigation and Reward
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the shooting. To encourage community cooperation, a $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
