Germantown Standoff Ends Peacefully, Suspect in Custody Facing False Imprisonment Charges

After a heated altercation broke out outside an apartment building on Sunday, the Germantown standoff was ended without incident, and 49-year-old Marques Buford was arrested. He is now being charged with false imprisonment.

Montgomery County Police reported that early on Sunday, they responded to a domestic incident call on the 12300 block of Silvergate Way. The woman told them that her husband would not let her leave the house, and when they arrived, Buford was armed with a butcher knife and wearing protective gear, such as a paintball mask, which made less-lethal force useless.

A SWAT squad was stationed nearby to assist the 5th District cops, who worked diligently to contain the situation and negotiate with Buford, as part of the Emergency Response Team that was brought in to handle the developing problem.

Buford tried to run away in a tense and unclear turn of events, but he was quickly arrested. He was captured by officers without endangering the suspect or any of the other people involved. Buford was transferred to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit after being arrested and evaluated at a nearby hospital. He is being detained without bond.
