On November 7th, a man who had just collected a settlement money was the victim of a quick and startling theft that rattled Glendale. FOX 10 Phoenix reports that the man’s car, which was unlocked and carrying about $50,000, was broken into while he was inspecting a truck he was thinking about buying. Two individuals were seen stealing the money on surveillance footage.
In an interview with law enforcement, the victim described the incident and confessed to an officer his mistake. “When we got off to get the truck, we had the money in the car, and me, like an idiot, didn’t lock the car,”he informed the police. When the truck’s seller informed him that someone had tampered with his vehicle, the loss was discovered. The victim and his son responded by pursuing the alleged thieves, a pursuit captured on camera by Glendale Police’s real-time crime center.
When the suspects ran a red light at 67th Avenue and Olive Avenue and collided with another car, the pursuit came to an end. Before choosing to wait for law enforcement, the victim briefly lost sight of the suspects, according to his account in a police interview later shared by Headtopics: “I was running after him and I lost him from the front of this complex to over here and then I seen him and I said ‘I’ll wait for the cops,'”
The chase’s aftermath was chaotic, with the suspects caught and money all over the place. “There’s money all over the street, making a right-hand turn seeing the fighting, came up to a car accident and then fighting, and I was like, You guys need to separate, and the guy is like, He stole $50,000 from me,” a witness told Fox 10 Phoenix of the incident. In relation to the incident, Raymond Pouncy and Reginold Chatman were taken into custody by Glendale Police. Officers found $47,205 in cash in their vehicle, which was presumably part of the stolen sum.
