‘Gonna run me over, f—!’: Bodycam shows officer firing at Lululemon shoplifting suspect who nearly strikes her during getaway

A pair of suspects who allegedly shoplifted from aRhode IslandLululemon fled from a police officer during a traffic stop, running over the cop s foot, video shows.

According to a Rhode Island State Police press release, Cranston Police officers responded June 16 to ashopliftingat the Lululemon store in the Garden City Shopping Center. The suspects, later identified as Michael Campagna and Megan O Brien, both 24, fled the area in a gray Kia. A Cranston cop, identified byProvidence CBS affiliate WPRIas Officer Kayleigh Cooper, spotted the car stopped in traffic on Reservoir Avenue near the on ramp to Route 10.

The video shows Cooper approach the vehicle and order the pair to turn it off and get out. She opens the door.


What are ya doing? What is this about? Campagna says from the driver s seat as Cooper continues to tell them to get out of the car. Ma am what are you doing? Get away from my car.

O Brien tells Campagna to drive and he steps on the gas and flees.

He s gonna run me over! F , Cooper screams.

Cooper gave chase but the suspects got away. Two days later, the United States Marshals Service and other police agencies arrested Campagna and O Brien at the JFK train station inBoston. Both are charged with shoplifting, felony battery, assault on a police officer and conspiracy. Campagna faces additional charges of reckless driving and obstruction of an officer while O Brien is charged with aiding and abetting. Both are awaiting trial on the charges with Campagna scheduled for a court hearing on Thursday.
