Grieving mother testifies about her Marine veteran son's death at the hands of violent illegal aliens

In testimony to Congress on Tuesday, a mother related the terrible story of how her son, a US Marine veteran, was gunned murdered by illegal immigrants on their South Texas home during the Obama administration.

Marie Vega, a legal immigrant from Mexico, spoke before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on “Biden’s Border Betrayal” on Tuesday.

According to Vega’s testimony, her family was at a cookout on their property in La Feria, Texas, when two illegal aliens “ambushed” them unexpectedly in July 2014.

“Our wonderful day turned into a nightmare when two criminal illegal aliens ambushed us in an attempt to take both four-wheel drive trucks. “The two illegals jumped out of the stolen vehicle they were driving and began shooting at us without hesitation or warning,” she explained.

Her son and husband tried to return fire. During the attack, her son, Javier “Harvey” Vega Jr., a former Marine and Border Patrol officer, was slain. Meanwhile, her husband has suffered permanent injuries as a result of the tragedy.

Aside from the death and physical damage her family suffered, she claimed that she, her daughter-in-law, and young grandchildren were traumatized.

“Open borders have consequences,” Vega explained. “And you can see from what I have experienced because of the crimes committed by illegals, the pain lives with us for the rest of our lives.”

Vega claimed she tried to protect her grandkids and watched helplessly as her son was shot in the chest.

Through sobs, Vega asked, “Do you know what it’s like to witness your son die after being shot? Do you know what it’s like to hear gunfire and bullets flying past you? Do you know what it’s like to be trying to digest everything at once, instructing your grandchildren to duck as your son lies on the ground with a gunshot in his chest?

“Do you understand what it’s like to hear your son’s final words to his father? ‘Dad, keep shooting.’ “Keep shooting were his last words,” she queried, adding, “That should never have happened.”

She described the event as a “nightmare,” saying, “Had my husband and I not returned fire, the illegals would have killed everyone there, leaving no witnesses.”

According to Vega’s evidence, the two illegals had prior criminal records, had threatened other residents in their community, and had already been deported. She stated that she still suffers from “survivor’s guilt” and has difficulty sleeping as a result of the experience.

“11 years is how much I have struggled to survive without my baby,” she told me. “For 11 years, I have suffered with flashbacks in every waking minute. We’ve celebrated the guys’ birthdays, graduations, weddings, new families, new careers, and incredible triumphs without my baby for 11 years.

“Illegal aliens have impacted American lives in a very negative way,” Vega said. “They show no regard for human life. As I watched firsthand, the illegals who killed Harvey also shot my husband in the back and targeted innocent children and women. My grandchildren and their pal were just eight and eleven years old. “Imagine your child or grandchild witnessing this horror.”

She decided that “had our immigration laws been enforced, our son would be here.”

“Barack Obama failed me, my family and our community and our nation,” she told me.

Addressing the senators on the subcommittee, Vega stated, “You took an oath to preserve the Constitution and work for the people. That entails collaborating with your fellow legislators, regardless of whatever side of the aisle you are on. You are expected to work together to represent us and ensure that people coming in follow our immigration laws. They must be thoroughly vetted, not only for their own safety, but for yours and ours.”
