After a two-vehicle crash in Springfield Township, a woman from Oakland County died. The dead was named by authorities as Groveland Township resident Renee Marie Vilders, 34, who was a participant in the Wednesday night crash that claimed her life.
Around 9:30 p.m., Vilders was traveling east on Holly Road in her 2023 Chevrolet Equinox when the collision happened, according to the Detroit News. According to reports, she struck a 64-year-old man from Groveland Township who was driving a northbound GMC Sierra pickup truck after failing to stop at a stop sign at the junction of Dixie Highway.
Vilders’ automobile eventually flipped onto its side against some trees after the incident, which forced both cars off the road. Vilders was declared deceased at the scene, as ClickOnDetroit details. Paramedics from the Springfield Township and Groveland Township Fire Departments took the pickup truck driver and his 61-year-old passenger to the hospital, where they were declared in stable condition.
Although it has not yet been established whether alcohol played a role, authorities have verified that everyone wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident did so. According to WWJ Newsradio, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is still aggressively looking into the accident’s circumstances. Vilders is presently awaiting an autopsy.
