Hamilton Invites Residents to Celebrate Military Service with Hometown Hero Banners

Hamilton is calling on its residents to honor their local military heroes uniquely and visually — through the Hometown Hero Banner program. The city, alongside the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, the Hamilton Community Foundation, and the Hamilton Veterans Hall of Fame, is now accepting applications for banners that will pay tribute to those from the area who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Applications opened on Veterans Day today and will run through February 28, 2025. Eligible participants include active duty soldiers, honorably discharged veterans and those who have sacrificed by dying in the line of duty. A connection to the

as a resident or former resident is necessary. Applicants or their sponsors must submit the required documentation and a fee of $180, as reported by SFist. This cost covers the banners’ production, installation, and eventual removal. Financial aid through sponsorships and donations is being offered to families needing support to partake in this commemorative gesture.

The banners, adorned with service details and photographs, will become part of the cityscape from Memorial Day to Veterans Day, transforming Hamilton’s streets into an avenue of honor and remembrance. Due to limited space, applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, and those not immediately accommodated will be waitlisted for the next available opportunity.
