A Hardeman County high school instructor, Jason Childers, 44, faces serious allegations involving misconduct with his students. According toAction News 5, Childers has been charged with aggravated sexual battery, two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, four counts of assault, simple possession and tampering with evidence. He was booked with a bond set at $150,000, pending further action.

The county school district administration, in a statement obtained byAction News 5, declared The Hardeman County Board of Education and district administrative staff are aware of and monitoring the recent arrest of a teacher. As the situation progresses, decisions will be made based on the facts that emerge. The teacher has been suspended pursuant to board policy 5.201. Students claimed Childers engaged in inappropriate physical contact that included touching students backs sliding his hand down toward their buttocks, and on one occasion, wrapping his arms around a student’s waist without consent. Childers is also alleged, to have used pet names like “darlin'”, “baby girl”, and “sugar” when addressing his female students, all between the ages of 12 and 14.

Moreover, the teacher was implicated in a separate incident involving possession of drugs. According to documents referenced byFOX13 Memphis, Childers attempted to discard a partially burned marijuana cigarette during a traffic stop, leading to additional charges of simple possession of narcotics and tampering with evidence.
