Heroic Rescue: Good Samaritans Save Florida Mom and Kids from Alleged Kidnapper

Outside a Department of Motor Vehicles office in Jacksonville, Florida, a group of brave Good Samaritans are being praised as heroes for saving a mom and two young children from what could have been a disastrous situation.

The DMV parking lot on North Main Street is where the incident happened on March 12.

As a mom frantically attempted to take her two young children, who were just two years old and six months old, from the back seat of an SUV, witnesses witnessed a guy trying to drive away, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

The 26-year-old guy, Yanni Human, was driving away “against the woman’s will, dragging her and one of the children through the parking lot,” according to investigators.

The events that followed were truly amazing.

“More than a dozen Jacksonville Good Samaritans stepped in during a dangerous situation, potentially saving a mother and two children from serious injury or worse,” the JSO stated in a Facebook post.

As the car kept driving, onlookers hurried in and successfully dragged the mom and kids to safety.

Witnesses gave 911 dispatchers a thorough description of the SUV and its license plate number before the man left the scene.

Later that day, JSO’s District 6 Task Force officers located and arrested Human at a nearby shopping complex using that information and video footage.

In addition to charges of beating, marijuana possession, and nonviolently resisting an officer, he is currently facing other criminal counts, including false imprisonment and child abuse.

Authorities attribute averting a possible tragedy to the spectators’ courage and fast thinking.

“This situation could have ended in tragedy. Your JSO is grateful for the quick action and bravery of the Good Samaritans who stepped up and helped bring the suspect to justice,” according to the post.
