Hinds County Wreck Leaves One Dead, Several Injured on MS-18

JACKSON, Missi. (DDN) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking into a multi-vehicle crash in Hinds County.

According to a press release, troopers responded to MS-18 at Cidero Road at 11:54 a.m. on Saturday. The crash included the following vehicles:

  • Glenn W. Matthews Jr., 39, of Vicksburg, drove his 2018 Cadillac XT5 west on MS-18.
  • Melissa Berryhill Spencer, 45, of Utica drove a 2008 Toyota east on MS-18.
  • Jimika Scott, 39, of Utica drove a 2018 Nissan Murano east on MS-18. Linda Scott, 71, and a minor were passengers.
  • A 2020 Dodge Ram driven by 55-year-old Jeffery Billot from Utica headed east on MS-18.

According to the release, the Cadillac struck head-on with the Toyota and then side-swiped the Dodge, forcing the Toyota to smash with the Nissan.

Melissa Berryhill Spencer tragically died at the site.

Glenn W. Matthews Jr. was evacuated to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with unknown injuries.

Jimika and Linda Scott were also sent to UMMC with unknown injuries, while Jeffery Billot remained unharmed.
