The moniker “saltbox house” refers to a type of colonial New England building that resembles a wooden box with a lid that was previously used to store salt.
“It would be a dang shame to see a house that is over three centuries old fall victim to shortsighted demolition, for the sake of a new build that likely won’t last 50 years,” the post stated. “Houses this special NEVER come around.”

Coldwell Banker Realty’s Julie Corrado advertised the property on Zillow. The saltbox house features three bedrooms, two baths, and.33 acres, according to the description. It costs only $75,000 dollars.
“”Old” Main Street in South Windsor, which is one of the most picturesque streets in Connecticut, the home needs a renovation to bring it back to life,” according to the listing. “Price is for property in an as-is state with everything on the property conveyed as it is.”
It was also stated in the listing that a normal mortgage would not be accepted for the purchase of this home.
Zillow reports that the average cost of a property in Connecticut is $410,357, meaning that this colonial-era home is significantly less expensive than the state average.
Of course, you have to account for the expense of repairs and renovations.
