The day began on a warm and muggy note in the Boston area, and the heat is only getting started. Temperatures will soar into the mid 90s this afternoon, with humidity making it feel more like 100-103° at times. A Heat Advisory has been issued until 8 p.m., so take it easy if you’re spending time outside; stay hydrated and seek shade or AC whenever possible.
Expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the morning, but our focus will shift to the sky later today. After 2 p.m., scattered thunderstorms are likely, with some becoming strong or severe. The primary threats are damaging wind gusts, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning. This afternoon and evening, keep an eye on the radar and be aware of the weather. Storms will subside after sunset, allowing for a much more relaxed start to the weekend.
Saturday brings a welcome change: sunshine, highs in the mid-80s, and lower humidity will make things feel much more pleasant. It’s a fantastic day to get outside and enjoy classic summer weather without the oppressive heat.
On Sunday, we expect a few isolated showers or storms, particularly in the afternoon, but there will be plenty of dry time. Temperatures will remain seasonable.
Looking ahead to early next week, the heat returns, with highs in the low 90s on Monday and Tuesday. However, relief is on the way: a cool-down is expected by Thursday, returning us to more comfortable temperatures.
