A disturbing discovery led to this turn of events when HPD patrol officers responded to an apartment complex at 1550 Leona Street on September 26 around 6:50 p.m. Houston Fire Department paramedics found Briones dead with blunt force trauma to his torso, situated in the breezeway, which is inconveniently located between the parking garage and an apartment building.

The Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division detectives, P. Michon and D. Davis, led the subsequent investigation. Their efforts identified Bonilla as a primary suspect in the fatal incident.
