An incident at a convenience store in Houston escalated to gunfire after a security guard shot a man who was reportedly threatening and pushing him. The confrontation occurred just rafter midnight yesterday in the 3800 block of Old Spanish Trail, as reported byFOX26 Houston.

According toClick2Houston, police say the 29-year-old man entered the store with an open bottle of liquor and was asked by the security guard to leave. The man became aggressive, pushing and threatening to beat up and shoot someone, as Lt. Willkens described. He then went to his SUV, took out an unidentified object, and returned to the store still aggressive.

During the altercation, the security guard was pushed and threatened again as he moved to the middle of the store. The situation ended when the guard fired his gun, hitting the man in the jaw. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Lt. Willkens stated the man kept pushing and threatening to shoot and hurt the security guard. Authorities are reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses. It is unclear if the security guard will face charges, as the investigation continues.
