Hull Police Investigate After Live Bullet Found in Jacobs School Gym, No Immediate Threat Found

A student found a bullet in the Lillian M. Jacobs School gym last night, and Hull Police are now looking into it. The event happened in the pre-K–7 building around 7:30 p.m., and the official statement from the Hull Police Department says that school officials and police responded quickly.

After the kid told a sports coach what happened, Hull Police were called. An officer did a preliminary search to make sure everyone was safe. To learn more about the school, the Massachusetts State Police and a K9 unit trained to find guns and ammo worked together to do a thorough search. The ammunition in question was a real.40-caliber bullet, but no other guns or extra ammunition were found.

Jake Mahoney, a School Resource Officer for the Hull Police Department, led the probe by looking at surveillance footage from the school. After a thorough review, the Hull Police Department has told the public that they do not think there is an immediate threat to the safety of students or staff, and there have been no specific threats made against Hull Public Schools.
