Josh Balk, husband to Guadalupe County District Clerk Linda Balk, found himself under arrest again, this time on a DWI charge in Cibolo, as per
KSAT’s investigation
. Booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on a DWI-2nd charge, Balk was later released on a $5,000 bond. This incident trails only months after Balk entered into a plea agreement for felony theft, where he managed to avoid jail time and was instead sentenced to community supervision and ordered to complete a set of rehabilitative measures.
Previously indicted in 2019 for felony theft and felony misapplication of fiduciary property, the plea bargain required Balk to ensure to pay back more than $245,000 in restitution and complete 200 hours of community service, as stated in court documents. Alongside these penalties, Balk was expected to attend a theft education class and undergo behavioral therapy. His latest arrest could potentially trigger a review or modification of his community supervision conditions, an official told

.
Linda Balk’s campaign previously came under scrutiny when it was revealed that her re-election campaign received over $30,000 from her husband’s construction company, as he was nearing bankruptcy in 2018. These donations came at a time when Josh Balk was withdrawing funds from a construction loan. Allegations emerged claiming that Balk paid for construction projects he never completed, leaving unpaid subcontractors behind him. Despite the transfer of his criminal case to Caldwell County for a fair trial, Balk remained embroiled in controversy.
Linda Balk, maintaining a professional front despite the personal crises, conveyed her concerns for the community’s well-being. “Linda Balk expresses deep concern for the impact of her husband’s charges on the community and has been taking time to reflect on the best way forward,” was part of her statement provided via her attorney and released to the

. Asserting her distance from the situation, she emphasized her commitment to her duties and public service, separating her work from her husband’s legal troubles. “While she has previously refrained from offering specific comments on her husband’s previous charges due to the ongoing investigation, she assures the public that her work will continue unaffected from this recent incident. She does not condone any of the actions her husband has been” charged with, the statement read.
It is unclear how Josh Balk’s recent arrest will affect his probation, as the Caldwell County Adult Probation office has not responded to inquiries. With a past conviction for high blood alcohol content in Missouri and a new arrest, his future is uncertain, facing both legal challenges and personal consequences.
