I-20 Accident Leaves Driver Dead in Charred Vehicle, Alcohol a Possible Factor

DDN – An accident that resulted in the driver’s vehicle catching fire has resulted in the death of one individual.

An accident involving a car and an 18-wheeler was reported to have occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at S. Cooper Street at approximately 2:05 a.m. on Saturday, according to a news release. The Arlington police department went to the scene.

An entirely enveloped Hyundai Elantra from the year 2024 was discovered by the officers when they arrived. The fire was put out by the Arlington Fire Department, which showed the charred remains of the driver inside the vehicle after it was extinguished.

According to the news release, researchers suspect that the driver of the Elantra was traveling at an excessive speed when they rear-ended the 18-wheeler. In terms of potential contributing factors, alcohol has not been ruled out as a possibility.

After the event, the driver of the 18-wheeler was found to be unharmed, according to the police.

Following the successful identification of the deceased and the notification of the next of kin, the identity of the deceased will be made public by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
