I-85 Closed for Five Hours After Oak Lawn Driver Makes Alleged Bomb Threat in South Carolina

DDN – A highway in South Carolina was shut down for several hours after a truck driver from Oak Lawn was suspected of making a bomb threat and causing the closure.

A tractor-trailer was pulled over by a South Carolina State Police officer on January 2 on Interstate 85 in Greenville County, which is located in western South Carolina. The officer reportedly noticed that the trailer’s registration plate was missing.

The truck was being driven by Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, who is 28 years old and lives in Oak Lawn. Alhendi allegedly gave the impression that there was an explosive device concealed within the truck, according to the State Police.

When the threat was being investigated, the police shut down all lanes of Interstate 85. The FBI was requested to conduct an investigation.

It took almost five hours for the truck to be cleared, and then the freeway was reopened.

In addition to operating and permitting an unregistered car, Alhendi has been charged with sending false information concerning a bomb threat, as well as committing a breach of peace of a high and serious kind.
