After approximately two years of redevelopment, the Texas grocery store H-E-B is slated to unveil its revamped South Congress location with doors set to open on December 4th at 6 a.m. The store, which has served the community from 2400 S. Congress Ave. since 1957, has undergone a substantial expansion from its original 25,000 square feet to a sprawling 145,000 square feet across multiple levels,

In a bid to enhance customer experience, the new design incorporates indoor and outdoor dining, curbside pickup, a drive-thru pharmacy, and an H-E-B Flower Bar. Patrons can also eagerly anticipate to shop on the second floor and use one of the more than 600 parking spots distributed over three above-ground levels. Furthermore, the new space will feature a varied selection including fresh Sushiya sushi and store-made tortillas, as explained by H-E-B Group Vice President Central Texas Cathy Harm, who stated, “This store is an important part of this neighborhood, and we hope this new design conveys the deep gratitude we have for our loyal customers who have supported our business for more than 60 years,” according to a

While the South Congress H-E-B underwent renovation, the company continued to serve its customers from a temporary location at the Twin Oaks Shopping Center at 2301 S. Congress Ave. The temporary site will soon be vacated as operations return to the original and now significantly upgraded location.
