Immigration Officials Arrest Four in Washington for Sex Crimes and Other Major Offenses

SEATTLE, Wash. (DDN) – According to a news release issued on Friday, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended four persons across Washington state.

According to immigration enforcement, the four people are criminal immigrants who have been convicted or charged with sexual assault.

Pedro Garcia-Lopez, 47, is a Mexican citizen who was detained on Thursday in Yakima, according to law officials. Garcia-Lopez has been charged with stealing, indecent behavior with a child under 14, and sexual battery.

Officials reported. Rubi Jeronimo Cruz, a 22-year-old Guatemalan citizen, was detained Thursday in Lynden. Cruz was convicted of DUI with reckless driving and accused with rape of a minor.

On Wednesday, law enforcement detained Jaspal Singh, a 29-year-old Indian citizen, in Tukwila. Singh was charged with assault with a sexual motive.

Manuel De Jesus Zavala-Martinez was also arrested. According to ICE, Zavala-Martinez is a 40-year-old El Salvadorian citizen who was arrested in Centralia on Wednesday. He has multiple felony convictions, including assault with sexual intent and assault with a lethal weapon.

In a Facebook post, Centralia Mayor Kelly Smith Johnston verified the arrest with Centralia Interim Chief of Police Andy Caldwell.

“Chief Caldwell just informed us that Federal ICE agents did arrest (likely for deportation) someone here in Centralia,” the mayor’s letter read.

According to Caldwell, the individual has “a lengthy and diverse arrest record” that includes attacks and is a transient part of the community, as mentioned in Johnston’s post.

Caldwell stated that the Centralia Police Department was not engaged in the arrest but was notified by immigration enforcement officers.
