Indiana Attorney General Initiates Probe into Alleged Labor Trafficking Amid Migrant Influx in Evansville, Logansport, and Seymour

In an effort to address growing health and safety concerns in Indiana, Attorney General Todd Rokita has initiated investigations into reports of potential labor trafficking occurring within the state. This move comes as cities such as Evansville, Logansport, and Seymour have experienced an uptick in the number of migrants arriving, both undocumented and those entering through official channels, raising flags about the strain on community resources and risks of exploitation.

Attorney General Rokita, scrutinizing both international networks and local nonprofits involved in refugee resettlement, issued Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs) to several organizations, including the Cass County Health Department, Logansport Community School Corp., and the Jackson County Industrial Development Corp. Amid concerns about overcrowded living conditions in these influx regions, where dozens of individuals are sharing spaces designated for single families, he suggested that, facilitated by the misapplication of federal law, every state is now bearing the burden of border issues.

“Illegal immigration caused by “border czar” Kamala Harris’ perversion and misapplication of federal law has made every state a border state and imposed unsustainable costs on Logansport and other cities across the nation,” Rokita stated. “It has also created serious sex and labor trafficking risks in all communities. I’m creatively trying to use every tool in the law to stop the Left’s intentional destruction of Indiana,” according to the

The inquiry falls under the purview of Indiana’s Deceptive Consumer Sales Act and indecent nuisance statute, bestowing the Attorney General’s office with broad authority to investigate these matters. In addition to overcrowding and potential labor violations, “The influx of these illegal aliens, which are coming from over 150 different countries, have strained our schools and the children of taxpayers are suffering as a result. It has caused unneeded stress on law enforcement, local hospitals and healthcare facilities, and our housing and labor markets,” Rokita alleged, spotlighting a myriad of systemic challenges prompted by the arrival of these individuals in Indiana’s communities, a statement obtained by

The investigation is ongoing as the Attorney General’s office looks into how migrant workers are being brought to Indiana and the impact on local communities and economies. The focus is on distinguishing between legitimate assistance programs and illegal trafficking networks.
