Indianapolis residents, brace yourselves for a soggy stretch ahead. The

(NWS) has forecasted a high likelihood of showers starting this afternoon and continuing into the night. The NWS reported, “Showers likely, mainly after 5pm,” with today’s high reaching near 59 degrees and southeast winds pushing at six to nine mph – with gusts potentially as high as 21 mph. The chance of rainfall stands firm at 60%, with the potential for between a tenth and quarter of an inch of new precipitation.

But the rain won’t be stopping there, the evening is set to bring more showers with a certainty, the chance of precipitation hits the 100% mark. Adding to the dreary outlook, the

anticipates new precipitation, amounts spanning from three quarters to one inch possible tonight. Temperatures will hover around a night-time low of 50 degrees, while southeast winds blow between 10 to 13 mph, stirring up gusts as strong as 24 mph.

Looking ahead to Thursday, residents can expect more of the same. “Showers likely, mainly before 1pm,” according to the

predictions. The day might offer a mild reprieve with a high reaching approximately 57 degrees, while winds shift from south to west throughout the day. Although the winds are forecasted to die down a bit, gusts could still reach up to 18 mph, and the chance of precipitation maintains its hold at 60%.

By Thursday night, the showers should taper, but the sky will remain mostly cloudy. The low is expected to dip to around 46 degrees, with a gentler west wind of five to eight mph. Those longing for a break from the clouds might have more luck on Friday which will be mostly cloudy, yet again, with a high near 56 degrees and a calm north northwest wind around six mph.

The weekend forecast shows some signs of improvement, with the

predicting a mostly sunny Saturday and a high near 57. The calm relief from precipitation continues into Saturday night with just partly cloudy skies and a low around 43, though southeast winds will persist around five mph. Sunday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, reaching a comfortable high near 62, with a slight chance of showers developing into Sunday night.

As for early next week, Monday and Tuesday will both have a moderate chance of showers, capped by mostly cloudy conditions.
