Indianapolis Braces for Overcast Days with Rain and Potential Snow, NWS Advises

According to the National Weather Service, Indianapolis weather forecasters anticipate a string of cloudy days with sporadic bouts of rain and possibly a combination of rain and snow later in the week. Residents can anticipate largely cloudy sky, a high of around 56 degrees, with a calm wind that shifts to the southeast in the afternoon starting today. The city’s temperatures are expected to be in the mid-to-upper 50s, with nighttime lows in the mid-40s.

The weather for tonight is still largely overcast, with a low of about 43 degrees. The cloud cover pattern will persist into tomorrow, which is expected to be partly sunny with a high of about 61 degrees. Over the course of the weekend, moderate winds are predicted. More erratic weather is expected this week, though, with a 30% chance of showers occurring tomorrow night after 1 a.m. under largely cloudy sky.

Showers are still likely to occur on Monday, with a 30% probability throughout the day and a 100% chance at night, as showers are predicted to replace the previous one after one in the morning. With highs dipping to about 63 degrees on Monday and reaching a peak of 67 degrees on Tuesday, the new week also offers higher weather. However, there is a catch to the pleasure of a Southern breeze: gusts can get up to 26 mph.

With a 50% chance of showers after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the midweek outlook is a jumble of precipitation possibilities. With gusts that could reach 29 mph, the winds will still be strong. The NWS predicts Wednesday night will see “rain showers likely before 1am, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers,” with temperatures dropping to a low of about 33 degrees and strong winds.

With no break from the clouds and a constant chance of rain showers, the erratic weather continues throughout Thursday night and Friday.
