Following a report of a stolen car carrying a 6-month-old infant, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was in full search gear yesterday. The IMPD asked the public on Facebook for help in tracking down a black 2014 Chevrolet Equinox SUV that was stolen from the 8000 block of Egret Lane near 79th Street and Ditch Road. Around 6:50 p.m., the event was first reported, and the license plate of the car was identified as 394 CIG.
Eliam Santiago Felipe, who was only six months old, was recognized as the lost baby. Relief arrived quickly after what must have been an excruciating wait for everyone. Eliam was discovered safe just before nine o’clock that same evening, as confirmed by IMPD. Numerous media outlets, including WRTV, reported that the child was safe and that a car had been found.
The police officers made effective use of social media, sharing a picture of Eliam and the relevant information about the stolen car, taking advantage of the community’s general awareness. According to information provided by the IMPD and subsequently reported by WTHR, the SUV and Eliam were discovered about five or six miles from the scene of the theft.
