Indianapolis Man Wanted After Two Hit-and-run Crashes, One Fatal, Occur Minutes Apart

INDIANAPOLIS (DDN) – A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Indianapolis man accused of being involved in two hit-and-runs, one of which killed someone, minutes apart.

On Sunday, December 15 at 8:18 p.m., IMPD officers responded to the 8900 block of East 16th Street, at North Post Road and East 16th Place on the city’s east side, to investigate a personal injury hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle.

Police said Jeremy Davis was riding his motorcycle on East 16th Street when he was hit by a van. According to court filings, the van did not stop after the incident and continued driving without providing information or assistance.

According to court filings, Davis was unconscious and had sustained a “serious head injury,” so he was transferred to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

While visiting the incident site, police discovered another hit-and-run that occurred on East Washington Street, near Post Road, around 8:13 p.m. the same day – about a mile south of the other crash.

According to court filings, the victim of the hit-and-run told police she was driving east on East Washington Street when she looked in her rearview mirror and saw a van’s headlights “quickly approaching her” from behind.

The victim told police that the van reportedly hit the driver’s side rear of her vehicle, swerved into the left lane, and drove east without stopping. According to authorities, the victim attempted to follow the vehicle but lost it before pulling into a parking lot to phone police.

According to court documents, the victim told police that the vehicle had one distinguishing feature: the business name “Done Right Sewer Services Plus” on the back.

According to court filings, police assumed this vehicle was the same one involved in the fatal hit-and-run that occurred shortly after, so they approached the owner of Done Right Sewer Services Plus. Police claimed the owner informed them that one of their workers, Caiden McCall, had been assigned that van for work and had contacted them in the morning regarding a crash he had been involved in the day before. McCall allegedly texted the owner a photo of the van’s front, which revealed “significant damage.”

According to court filings, investigators then contacted McCall, who acknowledged that the van was allocated to him and that he is the only one who drives it and holds the key.

McCall allegedly informed police that he was driving the van when he was involved in a crash, but he didn’t know which street he was on. According to court documents, he changed his narrative “several times” and once claimed that another car was involved before fleeing the site of the incident.

McCall informed police that he called to report the crash, but there was no call history on his cellphone. According to investigators, McCall later told them that he informed his supervisor about the collision, who then called police.

Court filings state that after evaluating evidence, consulting with witnesses, and inspecting the van, police were able to corroborate that McCall’s van was involved in both hit-and-runs.

According to court documents, authorities searched McCall’s cellphone data and discovered that his device was near both sites at the time of the crashes.

McCall was given a warrant for leaving the site of an accident that resulted in death or catastrophic harm, as well as leaving the scene of an accident in which the vehicle failed to stop immediately.
